Five SEO Writing Tips for Results

It takes talent to produce excellent SEO writing these days.

Of course, we should insert keywords into page tags and the content. But it’s more than just that. We’ve all read plenty of mediocre online articles that seemed focused more on plugging particular keywords, than they were on delivering interesting and informative content that we wanted to actually read. Here are five SEO writing tips to consider:

1) Content is King with SEO Writing

In fact, the actual content needs to be a key focus in SEO writing, according to Ron Lieback in this Search Engine Journal article.

“According to a recent Searchmetrics General Ranking Factors study of Google, overall content relevance was more of a ranking factor than word count, or keywords in the text body, description title, or H1 tag,” writes Lieback. “Because agencies are naturally focused on the art of SEO itself, they forget about the art of writing.”

2) Keywords do matter in SEO writing. Lieback provides good advice in his article on the most important SEO locations for Keywords. He even prioritizes them.

3) Search Engines love bullets and bold type, which shouldn’t surprise anyone who frequents websites. So, naturally, I added a few to this blog post.

4) Short paragraphs allow the brain to breath. It’s also a good idea to mix up the length of your sentences, so they are sometimes long or short. Lieback gives a number of basic writing tips you might find helpful too.
